Outpost 7.6 official release with Windows 8 support

Just yesterday, October 25, Microsoft officially launched Windows 8, a long-awaited brand-new operating system. As anything newborn, this MS offspring is sure to need extra care and protection, especially at the beginning of its journey.

Today, October 26, next day after the new OS is available in the final market version, Agnitum comes up with an updated product range, Outpost 7.6, to safeguard Windows 8 users as well as those who prefer to stick with the old good 7, XP or 2000. That’s what we call a proactive approach :-)

Now that Outpost Security Suite Pro, Outpost Firewall Pro and Outpost Antivirus Pro 7.6 are launched and available on the market, we’d like to thank everyone whose contribution as beta testers made this release closer and smoother.

To recap, here’s what’s new and what’s improved in the new products, just to mention a few tweaks:

• Outpost 7.6 is compatible with Windows 8
• Outpost 7.6 knows how to deal with infected Metro apps, one of the relatively fresh vulnerabilities associated with the new OS
• Outpost Suite and Antivirus offer extended capabilities of suspicious items detection and a niftier algorithm for sending such alleged nasties for analysis
• Processing of IPv6 addresses is improved in Outpost Security Suite and Outpost Firewall 7.6
• ICMPv6 support is in firewall rules names is added
